Miramar Capital was founded in 2017 by senior members of the U.S. acquisitions team from Colony Northstar, Inc. The team has been investing together for nearly 8 years across the U.S., in all major asset classes, and up and down the capital stack. During this time the team has assembled an exceptional track record consisting of 42 investments with an aggregate of approximately $5.0B of total capitalization and $2.5B of equity, with the portfolio achieving blended underwritten returns and no investment generating a capital loss.
Miramar Capital is focused on high quality office and multifamily investments in California. We are based in Santa Monica, California with a regional office located in Silicon Valley.
Prior to founding Miramar Capital, Mr. Fuhrman was Executive Director and Head of U.S. Acquisitions at Colony Northstar, Inc. (fka Colony Capital, Inc.). At Colony, Mr. Fuhrman led many of the firm’s flagship debt fund investments (Colony Distressed Credit and Special Situations Fund, I-IV). In addition, he was responsible for new strategic initiatives and actively participated in real estate-related fundraising efforts. From 2010 to 2014, Mr. Fuhrman also served as the CEO of Colony’s Asset Management Company. During his tenure at Colony, Mr. Fuhrman was responsible for the sourcing and consummation of more than 42 investments representing more than $5.0B of total capitalization and $2.5B of invested equity.
Prior to joining Colony in 2008, Mr. Fuhrman was an Equity Partner at Latham & Watkins, LLP where he co-chaired the firm's global real estate practice group. Mr. Fuhrman serves on the board of the Los Angeles chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In 2012, he founded the Make-A-Wish Real Estate Division which has raised over $2.0M to date. Mr. Fuhrman is a periodic guest lecturer at both the USC and UCLA law schools on the subject of real estate finance and investing.
Mr. Fuhrman received his J.D. degree (Cum Laude) from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 1995 and his B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1991.
Prior to founding Miramar Capital, Mr. Yi was a Managing Director at Colony Northstar, Inc. where he was responsible for sourcing, evaluating, executing and managing opportunistic debt and equity investments across all property types. During his tenure at Colony, Mr. Yi was responsible for the sourcing and consummation of more than 40 investments representing more than $4.5B of total capitalization.
Prior to joining Colony in 2010, Mr. Yi was an Assistant Vice President of Acquisitions at Rockwood Capital in Los Angeles. He focused on the acquisition of commercial real estate properties throughout the Western U.S. Before joining Rockwood, Mr. Yi spent several years at CoastWood Capital Group, a boutique real estate private-investment firm focused on both public and private real estate assets. While at CoastWood, Mr. Yi focused on equity investments in retail, land development, senior housing, specialty residential and other operationally intensive real estate. From 2003 to 2006, Mr. Yi worked at AEW Capital Management specializing in the acquisition and disposition of opportunistic real estate investments. Mr. Yi began his career within the audit group of KPMG.
Mr. Yi received his B.S. in accounting from the University of Southern California in 2000.
Prior to founding Miramar Capital, Mr. Hariri was a founder of Fortbay, LLC, a diversified commercial real estate investment and development company which acquired and invested in $250M of commercial multi-family and office development properties in Silicon Valley over a 3 year period. Prior to that, Mr. Hariri was a special opportunity Investment Manager and Portfolio Manager of an $800M distressed commercial property loan portfolio for Colony Capital. Prior to that, Mr. Hariri was a principal of 2 privately held Land Development and Homebuilding companies in Northern California which reached a high of $100M of annual revenues over a 6 year span. Prior to that, Mr. Hariri held executive management positions at Centex Homes and Centex Destination Properties and KB Homes over a 6 year period. Prior to that, Mr. Hariri practiced as an attorney and civil engineer in California.
Mr. Hariri received his J.D. degree (Cum Laude) from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1997 and a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from University of California, Los Angeles in 1992.
Prior to joining Miramar Capital, Ms. Glanville was the Director of Accounting for Mobilitie, the largest privately-held telecommunication infrastructure company in the United States, where she managed the accounting, audit and reporting for the enterprise. Prior to Mobilitie, Ms. Glanville was the Corporate Controller for Colony Northstar, where she managed the accounting, audit, financial reporting, budget and forecasting for the global investment management business and the light industrial business. Ms. Glanville also acted as a key accounting lead performing acquisition due diligence, implementing ERP system conversion, and synergizing accounting processes across merged subsidiaries.
Ms. Glanville received her B.A double majored in Economics and Maths (Cum Laude) from Bates College in 2003. She is an active CPA.
Prior to joining Miramar Capital, Mr. Riemer was Vice President at Colony Northstar, Inc. where during his 10 year career, he was responsible for multiple aspects of the business, ranging from Investor Relations, Acquisitions, and most recently, Portfolio Management. During Mr. Riemer’s tenure in Portfolio Management, he was responsible for managing $700M of distressed commercial real estate loan portfolios, acquired by Colony Northstar (formerly Colony Capital, Inc.), as well as managing Colony Northstar’s $1.4B Colony Mortgage Capital portfolio.
Prior to joining Colony in 2008, Mr. Riemer worked at SCME Mortgage Bankers, a wholesale/ retail lender.
Mr. Riemer received his B.S. in management from Sonoma State University in 2001.
Prior to joining Miramar Capital, Mr. Mesna was a member of the real estate acquisitions team at Canyon Partners, LLC, an alternative investment management firm based in Los Angeles with over $20 billion of assets under management. While at Canyon Partners, Mr. Mesna focused on value-add and opportunistic investments primarily in the Southwest. His experience spanned across both debt and equity strategies, placing preferred equity and senior loans for several ground-up development projects as well as providing capital for the acquisition of multifamily properties located in low-to-moderate income submarkets.
Previously, Mr. Mesna was an Associate at Imperial Capital, LLC, a full-service investment bank advising middle-market companies. Mr. Mesna helped to execute mergers, acquisitions, and capital raises across a variety of industries; particularly, he specialized in debt financing for the gaming, lodging, and real estate sectors.
Mr. Mesna received his B.A. in Economics and Accounting (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2013.
